(Extracts from Message of President, IRTSA)

IRTSA, a mighty organisation having strong roots in almost all Workshops, Production Units, Sheds & Open Line Depots of Indian Railways to echo the voice of nearly 50,000 Technical Supervisors, was established on 27.11.1965. Ever since its inception, this magnificent Association tirelessly works for the welfare of the cadre, for preserving the cadre's prestige and honour and constructively works for building up the Cadre's prosperity and bright future. Though many distinguished persons held office at different capacities and displayed their selfless and sincere service to the category, one man lives outstandingly in the hearts of the cadre by his towering personality and that is the founder of IRTSA and its General Secretary for more than 40 years - Shri Harchandan Singh. He has devoted his entire life since 1965 serving IRTSA and the Trade unions movement of Railwaymen at large.

IRTSA SALUTES HIM AND PRAYS TO THE ALMIGHTY TO BLESS HIM AND HIS FAMILY MEMBERS WITH SOUND HEALTH AND PEACEFUL RETIRED LIFE.

We wish that he will continue to serve this organisation and find more time in future to devote on Railwaymen's welfare.

I have been associated with him for over three decades and I am proud to be his colleague all these years. Not only I but also many contemporary trade union leaders and also the officers at the helm admire his knowledge, involvement, presentation of cases with accurate statistics, powerful oratorial skills and dedicated service. It is this quality of this great personality which has taken this organisation from the roots to great height all these years. It is my pleasure to bring out on this occasion a biographical sketch of Shri Harchandan Singh which will inspire the cadres of this Association much better.

Note: The above write-up is a tribute to the Legendary Leader presented at the time of his retirement in the year 2001. Shri Singh continues to serve the Association throughout till date and we pray to the Almighty to grant him good health so that he may continue to guide us in all our Endeavours.
